We have has been successfully delivering the Home 2 Hospital service across the Mournes area since 2015, and were delighted to extend this to those in the Slieve Gullion Area from February 2020.
The Home 2 Hospital services were developed in response to a need identified by older people and NM&D Councillors to provide a much-needed volunteer led service for older people and their families.
Our Home 2 Hospital service is specifically for those aged 60+, living in the Slieve Gullion district electoral area and Kilkeel and surrounding areas that need help attending out of area hospital appointments, for example: Belfast, Craigavon and Dungannon.
Our CEO Jacinta Linden said, “We know how important this service is to so many individuals and families, it’s a life line of support to those aged over 60, many of the users live alone in rural areas and public transport just wouldn’t be an option.”
”Home2Hospital users report feeling safe and somewhat more able for their journey knowing they will be picked up from their home, taken to their appointment and left back to their door.”
